Wraparound Club Policy

7 July 2023 - Space

This week’s wraparound club theme was “Space”. The children completed various fun activities and impressed the adults with their knowledge of the planets and the solar system! They produced some really lovely work.

30 June 2023 - All about sports

This week, we have been talking to the children about their upcoming sports day and they took part in lots of fun activities, including making and designing their very own rosettes and cheerleading pom poms!

23 June 2023 - Healthy Eating

This week's wraparound club theme was 'Healthy Eating'. The children were encouraged to take part in various activities which made them think about the difference between healthy and unhealthy food choices. 

16 June 2023 - Father's Day

This week’s wraparound club theme was “Father’s Day” and the children really enjoyed making paper medals for their dads, colouring Father’s Day pictures and some children completed  “All about my dad” handwriting activity which really made them think and talk about their dad’s favourite things.

 

9 June 2023 - Under The Sea

This week’s theme was “Under the sea” and the children really enjoyed colouring various ocean creatures, completing the ‘Ocean Life’ crossword puzzle and reading books about Oceans.

26 may 2023 - Superheroes

This week’s theme was “Superheroes” and the children enjoyed colouring in their favourite Superhero pictures, reading books about Superheroes and they even played a game of Superheroes Bingo. 

19 May 2023 - World Bee Day

The children have been discussing the importance of bees as pollinators to flowers, fruit and vegetables and how they help the flowers grow as part of our topic "World Bee Day", which is celebrated on 20th May every year.
Children produced some great work and really enjoyed this topic!

12 May 2023 - Minibeasts

This week, we have been learning about Minibeasts and children have completed some fantastic work relating to this topic, including ‘minibeasts’ and ‘nature world’ crossword puzzles, colouring various minibeasts and making their own nature pictures, using their imagination.

 

5 May 2023 - Stars Wars & Royals

This week’s wraparound club theme was “Star Wars -May the Forth be with you”. Children really enjoyed colouring Star Wars pictures and making space ships using Lego pieces. We ended the week with a Coronation Street Party and dressing up as royals.

 

28 April 2023 - Family Tree

This week, we have been talking to the children about their family tree and they were encouraged to complete various activities relating to this topic. The children particularly enjoyed making their own 3D family tree and completing their family’s tree chart.

 

21 April 2023 - St George's Day

This week, the children took part in St George's Day activities like crossword puzzles, listening to a story about St George and colouring pictures of dragons, horses and other characters from the mythical story about St George. 
They were also very excited to be able to visit the chicks that hatched in the Reception classroom this week.

 

 

31 March 2023 - Easter

This week, we have been doing lots of arts and crafts relating to our “Easter” theme.
The children particularly enjoyed colouring Easter eggs and cutting them out with scissors and making their own Easter bunnies using paper, glue stick and scissors.

 

24 March 2023 - Spring

This week’s theme was “Spring” and the children really enjoyed all the arts and crafts related to this very popular topic. They especially enjoyed making their own 3D garden.

 

17 March 2023 - Mother's Day

This week's wraparound club theme was "Mother's Day". The children were invited to make their own Mother's Day card for their amazing mums or choose one of the printed cards or activity sheets and colour them in using pencils and felttip pens. They all did a wonderful job and showed how much they care about and appreciate their beautiful mums!

 

10 March 2023 - Making Flowers

This week, we celebrated “International Women’s Day”. We talked to the children about all the wonderful women in their lives. They were invited to make a flower for their amazing mums, using tissue paper.

 

3 March 2023 - World Book Day

This week, the children had lots of fun celebrating the World Book Day by reading fairy tale stories, creating their own story while playing with the castle and the pirate ship and completing lots of creative activities and colouring pictures from famous fairy tales. 

 

24 February 2023 - Making Shakers

This week, we have been busy with various activities relating to the Mardi Gras/Carnival and Shrove Tuesday. The children particularly enjoyed making their own shakers using the egg cartons and corn kernels. 

 

10 February 2023 - New Toys!

 
This week, the children have been excited to play with the new wraparound club resources.
They have particularly enjoyed building vehicles using the new Meccano set, drawing and writing on the new magnetic boards and playing with the new tea play set.

 

3 February 2023 - National Storytelling Week

This week, we celebrated 'National Storytelling Week' by reading lots of traditional tales with the children and the children enjoyed participating in various topic related activities. They particularly enjoyed playing the game of 'Fairy Tale Bingo'.

 

27 January 2023 - Chinese New Year

This week, we have been learning about Chinese New Year.
The children particularly enjoyed making their own puppet theatre and puppets and they had lots of fun acting out the story from the book called ‘Story of the Chinese Zodiac – The Great Race’ by Christopher Corr.

20 January 2023 - Robin’s Winter Song

This week, we have been talking to the children about the winter season and specifically about robins as they are one of the few birds that sing in the winter. The children enjoyed reading the ‘Robin’s Winter Song’ book, making their own bird masks and creating a winter landscape picture using a paper plate, coloured paper, glue stick, scissors and their fingers. We used these to decorate our Parkgate Pirates display board.  

13 January 2023 - The Day The Crayons Quit

This week, we have been reading “The Day the Crayons Quit” by Drew Daywalt and the children really enjoyed learning about the importance of respecting each other’s needs and wishes.They completed lots of lovely activities related to the theme of the book.

16 December 2022 - Making Christmas cards

This week, we have been busy with lot sof diffferent Christmas arts and crafts. Children were invited to make their own snowman Christmas card and write a message in their card for their families. 

9 December 2022 - Healthy Eating

This week’s wraparound club theme was ‘Healthy Eating’.
The children enjoyed reading the story about ‘The Smelly Sprout’ followed by making their own key ring sprout using bright green cotton wool.
They participated in other topic related activities which made them think about the difference between healthy and unhealthy food choices. 

25 November 2022 - Football World Cup

This week, we have joined the rest of the school in celebrating the FIFA World Cup 2022 and the children really enjoyed colouring in their favourite famous footballer players and designing their unique football shirts. 

18 November 2022 - Children in Need – People who help us

This week’s Wraparound Club theme was ‘Children in need – People who help us’ and the children really enjoyed taking part in colouring and cutting out their own Pudsey Bear. They had great fun making a Pudsey Bear pencil holder. 

11 November 2022 - Lots of creative activities

This week, Parkgate Pirates joined the rest of the school in celebrating Remembrance Day and the children really enjoined completing the topic related activities, including making their own poppy.

We also talked about Autumn season and the children were invited to make a hedgehog fingers puppet.

4 November 2022 - Festivities

This week, the children have been busy completing various activities relating to Diwali, Guy Fawkes Night and Halloween.

The children particularly enjoyed making their very own ‘Spider Hat’ and a few boys in the breakfast club used their imagination and made a fantastic Firework using Bunchems sticky moulds.

21 October 2022 - My House

This week’s theme in the wraparound club was ‘My house/home and where I live’. We talked to children about the type of house or flat they live in and asked them if they know the name of their street and town. Everyone really enjoyed this topic and produced some really lovely work.
