30 June 2023 - Marvellous monsters 

This week we've been reading a book called Monsters: An owner's guide in English. We talked about how we could describe them using precise adjectives. Have a look at our writing!

23 June 2023 - Coding fun

This week we've been doing lots of fun coding on the iPads. We had to follow a given design to create an animation.

16 June 2023 - Time

This week we have been learning about time. The children have worked very hard with this tricky concept!

 

9 June 2023 - 3D shapes

This week we've been learning about 3D shapes.  We looked at the properties of the shapes and compared some of them!

 

26 May 2023 - Amazing architecture (part 2!)

This week we have explored the process of making 3D structures inspired by the architecture we have looked at in art. We used cardboard, lolly sticks and card to make some interesting buildings.

19 May 2023 - Amazing Architecture

This week we have been looking at different types of architecture in art and have had a go at drawing some of the buildings. 

12 May 2023 - Fantastic fractions 

This week we've been learning to find and recognise 1/2, 1/3 and 1/4 of shapes! We've also learned about the history of communication and some of the inventions that have changed how we communicate e.g. the telephone and the internet.

21 April 2023 - How to Catch a Star

This week we are reading a book called How to catch a star by Oliver Jeffers. We read the story together, acted it out and then thought about what he would be saying or feeling at different points of the story. This is called making inferences and it's a really important skill!

 

17 March 2023 - St Albans Abbey

On Monday we went to St Albans Abbey. While we were there we learnt about the Easter story. We also looked at the stained glass windows and made our own.

 

3 March 2023 - Photo fun

We are learning how to use digital devices to take photos. We explored how to take a good photo and whether certain subjects look better in landscape or portrait.

10 February - Staying safe day

This Friday was staying safe day. We learned about our mental health and how we can protect it. We designed our own safe spaces and thought about what we would include in them.

 

3 February 2023 - Photos

This week we explored a printing technique called mono-print. We used pastels and carbon paper combined with drawing to create prints of shells.

 

13 January 2023 - Dreams and goals

This week we’ve been learning about dreams and goals in jigsaw. We have been thinking about the steps we’d need to take to achieve our goals.

16 December 2022 - Pictograms

The children have been learning to collect and present data using computers. We are using software called J2E to create pictograms. We really enjoyed it!

11 November 2022 - The Great Fire of London 

This week we were lucky enough to have a special visitor! She said she was alive in 1666 during the time of the fire. She told us all about what it was like and what happened. We had so much fun!

14 October 2022 - Autumn poems

We have been writing our own autumn poems this week! We learned about adjectives that could describe some autumnal objects and practiced using commas in a list.

7 October 2022 - Poetry

This week in English we are looking at poetry. We read a few and talked about parts we liked and gave our preferences. Then we had a go at performing a poem called ‘At the zoo’ by William Makepeace Thackeray.

30 September 2022 - Harvest week in India

This week we were learning about how harvest is celebrated around the world. We focused on India and looked at a festival called Pongal. During this celebration, people decorate their houses with Kolam patterns. We made our own Kolam patterns using a printing technique.

23 September 2022 - Baby animals

This week we have been learning about baby animals and what they can and can’t do yet. We watched a video about a baby animal called Safina. We thought about the skills she was learning to do such as walking, standing up and using her trunk to protect herself.
